Best upgrades: suya game buying order

The balance simulator that tunes the game buys one level of each upgrade in turn, in this order: charcoal grill, charcoal stove, tables and chairs, signboard, light bulb, cooler and generator. It always keeps the next night’s stock money in hand first.

Early on, the first levels of tables and chairs (₦1,000, +8% patience) and the signboard (₦1,000, +5% passers-by) are cheap and help from the next night; the grill’s level 1 is the first that adds slots. Buy a cooler before you move to Lekki and Victoria Island.

What does each level do?

Each table starts with what the stall has before you buy a level.

Charcoal grill

The grill itself changes as it grows: from a rusty cut oil drum to riveted stainless steel, each over a wire mesh on glowing charcoal, like many street grills.

Is the Mai Suya generator worth it?

A power cut comes on about 26% of nights. It only makes the stall dark: customers still come, and start 0.5 stars happier. The generator (₦13,000 for level 1, ₦207,500 for all) keeps the lights on, but its noise bothers 5% of customers on those nights until level 5 makes it silent.

Buy it when the dark makes you miss flips; most stalls buy it last.
